Spiller said Agamenticus comes from the Abnaki language. “Agu” meaning “marshes” and “wam” meaning “going under a place.” ... Near the center of the area, rising 691 feet above sea level, stands Mount Agamenticus, the highest point on the coastal plain of southern Maine.”
