Description
Found this while out searching the various waterways out in the country. It comes from a Maple Tree call Acer davidii, (Father David's Maple). This Chinese maple of open habit and flat-topped outline is named for its discovere, French missionary-naturalist Armond David. The scope of this name has now been widened to include a number of subspecies, previously treated as distinct species; David's original from is placed under Acer Davidii subsp. davidii. A snakebark maple, it has bark striped silvery gray on olive green background and leaves that are line pointed but mostly unlobed. Maples are unrivaled for their fall (autumn) foliage coloring and variety of leaf shape and texture. They are also grown for shade and for timber. Many are compact enough for the average garden.

Marcia - this is great! I like artists that can isolate visual elements - it seems simplicity in fall colors is very appealing - good work! v/f
