Love this, Marcia! The band of color makes such an interesting contrast to the neutral dried flowers. Wonderful composition of the elements, too.

So beautiful! The red grabs my attention and then my eye takes in the delicate structure of the branches and flowers and then the texture of the wall. This would be great as a large canvas. L/F

Terrific colors and a most interesting combination of elements - love the look of nature against the industrial. This is my pick of the day in the Best of Minimalism in Photography group for January 15.

Artist's Description

A flower, sometimes known as a bloom or blossom, is the reproductive structure found in flowering plants (plants of the division Magnoliophyta, also called angiosperms). The biological function of a flower is to effect reproduction, usually by providing a mechanism for the union of sperm with eggs. Flowers may facilitate outcrossing (fusion of sperm and eggs from different individuals in a population) or allow selfing (fusion of sperm and egg from the same flower). Some flowers produce diaspores without fertilization (parthenocarpy). Flowers contain sporangia and are the site where gametophytes develop. Flowers give rise to fruit and seeds. Many flowers have evolved to be attractive to animals, so as to cause them to be vectors for the transfer of pollen.

About Marcia Lee Jones

Marcia Lee Jones

Where does one start with a quick biography, which will give some insight to the artist inside? For me, photography was a way to get my feelings out by capturing moments in my life. Memories are one of the biggest ways to experience emotions of all types. Photography was that answer to capture moments that were ignored by others that would elicit an emotion. For instance, the way light can highlight an object brilliantly shadows that express mystery colors that can be dramatic or soft. To be able to do that with any form of art is important to the human psyche. We all must be able to express ourselves and my way is in black, white and color. Hope you will enjoy some of these...
