Artist's Description
I will miss all the beautiful shots that I have been able to capture at Bethlehem Steel over the last few years...such a lovely place for photographers.
Abstract photography introduces the viewer to the essence of an object. The aim is to help the viewer gain an emotional, almost primeval link to the image. The viewer is supposed to enjoy the feel of how it looks. For the viewer, abstract photography is not about knowing and recognizing the subject. Even so abstracts are sometimes recognizable as real world objects or scenes.
Abstract photography concentrates mostly on the two dimensional shape, three dimensional form, colour, pattern and texture in line with classical abstracts in other media. Two extra dimensions are found in abstract photography. One is the use of movement through capturing movement-blur. Used more often is the use of focus, especially by controlling the depth of field.
About Marcia Lee Jones
Where does one start with a quick biography, which will give some insight to the artist inside? For me, photography was a way to get my feelings out by capturing moments in my life. Memories are one of the biggest ways to experience emotions of all types. Photography was that answer to capture moments that were ignored by others that would elicit an emotion. For instance, the way light can highlight an object brilliantly shadows that express mystery colors that can be dramatic or soft. To be able to do that with any form of art is important to the human psyche. We all must be able to express ourselves and my way is in black, white and color. Hope you will enjoy some of these...
